Common Furnace Parts You Should Know

Furnace is a heating system; it is an enclosed space that converts fuel, gas, water or electric energy into heat to warm up or heat a building or a house. It is also used in industries such as oil refineries, ore extraction and a lot more.

There are several kinds of furnace including the gas furnace, oil furnace, the steam furnace, electrical furnace, stove, fireplace and the heat pump. With several kinds of furnace, their furnace parts vary from each other. However the general furnace parts that can be observed from all this furnaces are the burners, the blower and the control switch.

Furnace Parts

Furnace parts like the burners have sub-parts such as the heat exchanger, draft inducer and vent pipes. Furnace parts like the burners are the most important furnace parts, it is where the flame is generated, then as a result of the combustion of gas or fuel or electricity, the heat from the combustion will then move into a heat exchanger for a more efficient transfer of heat, in this furnace parts, the gases are cooled and then will be transferred to the draft inducer then into the vent pipes.

The blower furnace parts takes in cold gasses through a return duct then passes it into the burners which heats the gases then transfers them to the ducts where the blower blows it back as a hot gas through ductwork thereby distributing hot gasses into the house or building and heating it. The most common blower furnace parts are the fan blowers, because it is more efficient in air circulation than using separate ducts to take in cold air and to release hot air. It is now the widely used furnace part for hot air circulation in every houses or buildings.

The furnace parts like the control switch regulates the furnace and other furnace parts including the ignition control, gas valves, blower control, limit control and thermostat. The ignition control has the capability to ignite the burner therefore making the burner burst into flames. The gas valve furnace part, regulates the flow of the gas into the burners therefore regulating the amount of gas that enters the burner chamber, on the other hand the blower control determines the amount of time and speed of the blower as it blows hot gasses from the vent pipes.

The limit control furnace parts are safety devices that turn the furnace off when the furnace or other furnace parts overheat. The most common control switch is the thermostat; it is a furnace part that regulates temperature of the room or a building, it also signals the furnace to switch on or off when the room temperature falls below the pre-set level of temperature.

There are several types of thermostats that are now available, and the most popular are the digital thermostat that can be programmed, like allowing the user to determine the temperature at any given time of the day.

Furnace parts however should always be taken care of or maintained to see to it that there are no accidents will occur.
